It was a goalies dual by every stretch of the imagination on Thursday night. Both Mooseheads, Eric Brassard and Remaparts, Callum Booth stood on their heads stopping shot after shot. With both goalies making a few highlight reel saves and turning aside all others, it was definitely a good night for the tenders. Booth, a Carolina Hurricanes pick and the undrafted but veteran presence of Brassard are both key for these two young and rebuilding teams. The shutout for Booth was snapped with 44 seconds to play when Connor Moynihan scored a powerplay (winner) marker. Eric Brassard sealed his shutout (3) kicking aside all 31 shots and even getting an assist on Moynihan’s winner. Callum Booth stopped 22 of 23 shots in the tight game.
Halifax went on to win 2-0 following a Andrew Shewfelt empty-netter.
