Sens prospect Drake Batherson is called “Country Boy” by his Cape Breton Screaming Eagles teammates. The 2017 Ottaw Senators 4th round pick signed an NHL entry level contract last week and plans to play pro next season. He’s off to a terrific start to the 2017/18 season, leading the team in scoring with 8 goals and 14 points in 10 games, good for 7th overall in QMJHL scoring. Batherson will be expected to carry alot of the offensive load and also be a leader for his younger teammates. John Moore caught up with “Country Boy” and Cape Breton coach and general manager Marc Andre Dumont prior to a recent game (Oct 14) against the Mooseheads at Scotiabank Centre. Footnote – Batheron’s father, Norm played in the Senators organization and his younger sister, Mae just recevied a full ride scholarship to Syracuse (NCAA Division 1).
