Halifax Macs rookie Sam Beaton is generating plenty of offence for his Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League team as a 16 year old rookie. The Halifax native is 2nd on team with 11 goals in 24 games and has 19 points in total with the team approaching the Christmas break. Beaton tried out for the Macs as a 15 year old rookie but broke a bone in his wrist at training camp and had to withdraw for the camp. He then played with Citadel Phoenix in the Metro High School Hockey League during the 2015/16 season. His coach Tim Boyce saye he would like to have 4 Beatons on his team, one for each line. That’s a high compliment for the humble rookie. John Moore caught up with Beaton and Boyce prior to a MacDonalds game vs Cole Harbour Wolfpack Wednesday (Dec 21/2016) at the Forum.
