Halifax Mooseheads GM Cam Russell reviews today’s 2017 QMJHL draft at Harbour Station in Saint John, NB. The Mooseheads made a trade to move up and take a 2nd 1st round pick and selected forward Xavier Parent 4th overall and defenceman Justin Barron 13th overall. They also selected a couple of highly ranked 1st round prospects in later rounds. Halifax’s Arlo Merritt in Round 7 and Newfoundland’s Alex Newhook in Round 3. Both have expressed interest in US schools. John Moore joins Russell immediately after the draft.
