Cape Breton County Islanders did what few thought was possible this season – reaching the Nova Scotia Pee Wee AAA Hockey championships in East Hants. The Islanders struggled off the start but improved steadily and were one of 7 teams at the provincials. One of their goaltenders, Dean McFadgen had a solid tournament and was a longshot to make the team after being cut from the AAA team his home association. He left the home association and earned a spot playing AAA and eventually faced the association which sent him down. Prince County defeated Glace Bay 6-1 allowing them to represent the region at the provincials. Here is an interview with McFadgen and his coach.
