Anaheim Ducks Head Scout Martin Madden travelled to Halifax Thursday to watch Nico Hischier and a number of other 2017 NHL Draft prospects. Madden has been watching the Swiss born for a number of years and is not suprised by the attention he is now receiving, including ranked #2 by NHL Central Scouting.
“Everything impresses me about Nico” says the Ducks Director of Scouting both amateur and pro. Hischier was the 2nd star in a 4-3 QMJHL overtime loss to Acadie-Bathurst. He had a goal and an assist and left many of the 25 NHL scouts with another favourable viewing. Coincidentally, Madden began his scouting career with the Halifax Moseheads in 1997 under then head coach Clem Jodoin. Madden does not expect Hischier to be available when the Ducks step to the podium. They currently have a 1st round and 2 2nd round picks.
