2017 Telus Cup champions, the Cape Breton West Islanders returned to Nova Scotia Tuesday (May 2) at 3 am after capturing the region’s first ever National Major Midget hockey championships. The Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League champions defeated Quebec champs, 5-4 in overtime Sunday afternoon in Prince George, BC. The Islanders not only won the national title but did so with a dramatic come from behind win as they trailed 4-2 with 8 minutes left in 3rd of the Gold Medal Game. 15 year old Logan Chishom, a top prospect for the 2017 QMJHL draft socred the tying goal late in the 3rd and the overtime winnner in the 6th minute of OT. John Moore was at Robert Stanfield Airport when the team based out of Port hood, NS returned with their medals and the Telus Cup.
