Tyler Lirette is a high scoring AAA Pee Wee hockey player with the Chebucto Atlantics who was diagnosed a year ago with Type 1 diabetes or juvenile diabetes. The talented golfer and his parents were shocked to learn of his illness and yet his father, Ron Lirette was working in the diabetes industry at the time of the diagnosis. Tyler continues to play all sports and is one of the top players his Pee Wee team as well as a top ranked golfer. His dream is to one day become a “diabetes doctor.” John Moore spoke with Tyler, his father Ron, coach Pat Gilbert and team captain AJ Metlej prior to a recent playoff game at the Civic Arena in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
